studio lots, lavender and 1920s murals.

darlings

there are a Lot of photographs in this Post….

wait – hold on.

*counts*

sixteen, actually.

and we are really Not Sure how to tie them all together neatly, in one post.

*concerned_look*

do you have some tea?

we’re just going to make some.

of course.

see you in a moment……

*dashes_off_to_kitchenette*

okay.

here we go.

*might* well be a tiny bit rambling……a lot happened today (in a good way – we are Very much in an Action Mode you see) – shan’t be talking Specifics (always best to wait until things reveal themselves in due course – must not rush – anything – all in good time as they used to say – when was that?)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

so we were in the Valley (still Los Angeles, not Wales) this morning – bright n early – and this street always makes us wonder if the writer of Moonlighting lived here in the 1980sOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAone never must be too busy to stop and admire dew on a flower.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAor how blue, blue, blue the sky is.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAwhile the clouds float gently atop of the trees like cotton wool in a Movie Starlet’s glass jar in the tiny bathroom (with pale lemon tile exactly like That at Chateau Marmont) in the apartment on North Sweetzer that she shares with the typist from Paramount.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAwe did a double-take too.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAah. even in the Valley they like to quote Miss Woolf.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAwanna be actors were Everywhere today – or are people in Los Angeles just pre-naturally good looking?

is that a chicken and egg sort of a conundrum thingy?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAonce forgotten ads for citrus get re-painted and make one smile when pulling into outdoor parking lots.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAmoments between meetings are always splendidly filled by popping into an emporium of stuff-donated-by-other-people

what’s that?

gosh.

no.

we can’t sew.

the one term (semester, for American friends) that they told us to do needle-work everyone made a nice pie-frill blouse (Lady Di days) and we ran up (badly) a pair of peachy-rose baby doll PJs with shorts (elasticated, small pearl button as we recall) and wore them to sleepovers at people’s houses much to the Amusement of Friends’ parents (who bought their pre-teen daughters nicer camomile lawn strewn Laura Ashley full length nightgowns – it was Clear that we didn’t grow up on that side of the purchasing tracks).

thereafter we did Latin.

which means we can read newspapers in Italy.

yes, we think that’s glorious too.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAthe lavender is in bloom (incongruously in the driveways to rental car lots).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

talking of Lots.

here is The Lot.

(now they’ve become all dotcom-lower-case to      t h e   l o t)

why were we There (at the lot)?

good question. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAto which we cannot divulge the answer.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

because we were told Not to.

*sighs*

yes.

we took the pictures and *squealed* at the United Artists stonework too. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAdo you know the History of the lot or The Lot as it once was?

FASCINATING.

Around 1918, Jesse D. Hampton built a simple film studio at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Formosa Avenue. Little did he know that his small studio would be passed to some of the greatest influences in film, including Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and Sam Goldwyn.

In 1947, looked what they filmed here! (if you can’t see this Transmission in your Territory, ask mr. google’s cousin there to give you “Bishop’s Wife, trailer” – you’re most welcome).

now we SAW The Bishop’s Wife with Miss Vickie Lester and the Mister (was it Christmas Eve? we think it might have been or just before that) and – in another Hollywood twist-ette – the staff at the Egyptian told us to Look Up as the original ceiling that Miss Mary Pickford and Mr. Charles Chaplin would have seen is still there. and they would most probably have been sitting near each other – or to one side of Mr. D. Fairbanks – as they all ran – yes – you guessed it – United Artists together – which was – keep up children – at the Studio Lot that is now called “the lot”.

phew.

do you know another place where Miss Pickford probably enjoyed a libation or two?

it’s right opposite what was her Studio and is called Formosa Cafe*

*rather more of a Bar because when we asked for coffee they paused for effect and went off to brew some, it’s not like many people ask for it, even at 4PM in the afternoon, darlings.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAdo you know what Formosa means?

it’s a Portuguese word that means “beautiful island” and was what the Portuguese called Taiwan. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAand the Formosa Cafe has a gloriously inspiring Mural.

we can’t recall if Taiwan had a mural.

we have been.

but not recently.

as you see there were Lots of things that all twisted (prettily) Together in this Post and one could (loosely) assume it was about Hollywood (with the lot and all) or Not.

perhaps it was just about a day where lots was achieved.

on the lot.

*looksintomiddledistance*

now That was Acting. wow.

darlings

did you see it?

august-osage-county-title-movie-logo august-osage-county-trailer-05102013-094815now we KNEW Ms. Meryl Streep was a genius in the acting profession world.

Julia-Roberts-August-Osage-County_TheWeinsteinCompany.jpg.600x900_q100but Ms. Julia Roberts was a revelation.

and MAGNIFICENT!

quick(ish) review?

we can’t really.

there were squabbles and fights and some Very Rude Language and a-n-g-e-r (expressed and/or otherwise corroding the stomach lining) and Family Trauma and slightly (ok) Tremendously Twisted Relations, slammed doors and funerals and Lots of lying in bed – with or without one’s beloved or with someone else’s beloved who was about-to-leave and yet – and yet…………it was compelling.

couldn’t take our eyes away from the Screen.

we felt the overbearing HEAT from the air-conditioned coolness of the cinema seat just pour sweat (a “glow” for the Ladies) down the audience’s back as we tried to crunch back in the seat to avoid the blows between the familial frights.

oh.

by the way.

the Props were stupendous.

especially the choice and placement of the (affectingly ordinary – J&J?) shampoo bottles on the windowsill as Big Pharma got flushed (you have to see it, the juxtaposition was genius – sort of fragile and oh-so-ordinary-yet-devilish).

the *only* bit we were confused by is why Sherlock was there when he wasn’t solving anything or being Julian Assange and shaming large corporations into revealing their ill-gotten gains but we digress.

bravo, Ms. J. Roberts.

MAGNIFICENT.

and in other news:

is that the Time?

we have to dash.

picture explanations to follow inside 2, possibly three articles to follow in the next week or so – we promise.

btw (as the young people say) – you Do look well?

what’s that?

ah.

you’re doing a “cleanse”?

*painedlooktocamera*

it appears everyone is (apart from us).

we Do miss the days when a cleanse meant with a little Olay.

back to the drawing board….metaphorically speaking (although a real drawing board would be Nice)

darlings

*farofflooktothemiddledistance*

sometimes Things just Don’t Work Out.

but that’s ok.

even when it’s a book promo video shoot.

(pauses)

you see – the Industry (whomever they Are) decreed (is that the same as the sort of Tweet that King Herod might have put out? oh dear, can you imagine being His digital consultant……) – that a Talking Head is the way to sell a book.

mais non.

not when we saw it.

although who-we-are-in-RL did a valiant job but it just Didn’t Look Like a teamgloria production (because it wasn’t one – #notetoselves)

and the director did her (how modern) best. and the MUP (remember? make up and hair artist) did her best too.

but in the end, really, it’s about us (not who-we-are-in-RL).

so we’re Taking this baby over (there’s not really a baby, we just got a bit mobster’s moll for a second then).

back to the drawing board.

a cute teamgloria productions with a twinkle and inter-titles-like-a-silent-movie will arrive within the next week or so.

*chews_pencil*

now we just need the Right outfit to Direct this.

something in satin (naturally) and yet which emits deep Authority.

we’ll get back to you (although if you have a link or two – perhaps one with Ms Joan Crawford, or Collins, we adore both, do Send).

and in other news:

38ad164a7a0511e389ec12abeb9452dc_8

we woke up before the dawn.
130dd0b0794611e3b4b00e1aaf66de96_8

because the Hollywood Trades had arrived. 5469c7fa7a1111e3af0c12857895c600_8

and it was going to be another one of those mornings that comes under the heading of:

“gosh, yes, this is Exactly how we thought it would Be!”

because we had a 7AM (our time) call on the princess-phone with our Publisher (such a delicious word) in england (hence the early hour and location) about promotional copy for the book launch for messrs apple and amazon (for ms. kindle and miss. iPad) 99614cc8799111e3863312af00698892_8

of course the call went well because we are still *swooning* from the walk down 3rd street promenade last evening when we gazed deeply at the chandeliers in the Shop that starts small people (aka children, not people of shorter stature although we’re sure they Adore chandeliers too) Early on their journey into blingcc84f398797811e391e112f156a0a67f_8the chandeliers gave us even more pleasure because we had already spent a quiet hour in the Library.

after a delicious morning (yesterday) at – well – we think we can tell You.

you see who-we-are-in-RL was asked (very nicely, with a lovely Scottish accent actually) to join the Committee (always a dubious hono(u)r but this is a very smart one) for the Innovation Awards at Brit Week and so we tagged along and hung out near the photocopier and waited and enjoyed the view (no pictures allowed on Government Property) and thought more clearly about our Directing task for her book promo 2.0.

a thought to leave you with:

July 18th 2011

before you-know-what happened we spent a quiet night pondering what-might-happen and where-would-we-end-up (hopefully Los Angeles, but it looks Ever so Unlikely at that point) and whenever we got down (which happened quite a lot more in those days) we decoupaged (doesn’t everyone?)

and we made this.

manhattan-20110718-00128

imagine.

it was a sultry day (because Manhattan does a sultry summer July very convincingly) and we got covered in decoupage clue in a most wistful way.

and now LOOK – we LIVE IT***

This year’s weekly column Where Shall We Meet by Sophia Stuart was one of the site’s biggest attractions. Where should you go if a friend and you want to go shopping? Check this out. Where do you go if you want to house a meeting? Check this out. Where do you go if you just want a casual place to hang out with someone? Check this out. All of the entries in this series are fantastic but here are a few of our favorites from this year.

and, well, we’ll be meeting Anjelica Huston next week.

*blush*

right.

time to Concentrate.

we need to start looking back at some of our “previous work” to get inspiration for a teamgloria productions book promo of our own.

like, well, this one:

***careful with the Vision boards and decoupage – it might just come True *shivers_deliciously*

now where’s our AD and grip? (vocab alert: assistant director and the biggish chap with the sticky tape who moves large objects and the camera around)

christmas prep in cinema and song.

darlings

we don’t celebrate christmas in RL.

but we ADORE it at the cinema and in Song.

so we’ve been doing Lots of that.

to start off this piece of “post” with good cheer and a rousing Voice – ladies and gentlemen and those as yet in transition or of the 3.5 gender classification – we give you Darlene LOVE*!

*wavestocamera4thatsweepsovertomusicset*

*if Mr. google won’t let you see that Transmission in your territory Ms Love has a room of her own (online) as every woman really must.

now – let’s see – what other Prep have we been doing?

do you have a large pot of tea nearby?

we should warn you – there’s Quite a few pieces of photographic exposition with a not-so-deep (although there’s always subtext as Mr. Barthes would have opined).

we’ll wait…..

*checks_nails*

oh good.

you’re back.

let’s go…..Christmas Prep – voila!

03a0e8606a5011e3a4f01235071e850a_8

we’ve been Writing (too early to say what it is – but Ideas are Ruminating)4eeb5e4a6a6e11e3b74b1270dd981a11_8

we went to visit the (outside of the) house-of-Christopher in the Santa Monica Canyon on a lovely Saturday morning (mini) road trip with George.6a5ba20c6b4a11e3bb561286f3f88ddb_8

and spent time gazing out into the Ocean (actually this shot was yesterday – we do need to sort through our Slideshow but we’re in Haste to post before heading out into Monday you see – the perils of not Pauline, but a busy life-of-not-Brian but teamgloria darlings)7e0556f069e611e3a47a127177f7ba2e_8

oh! this evening was delicious – this was Friday and we went a-caroling with our lovely friend RH and it turned out to be Christmas Songs as opposed to “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” (we like that one, most particularly) but it was still such Fun. 8c2bb58c6b1a11e3a73f0e21cff7f392_8

what’s this?

oh.

yes.

the sunrises have been gorgeous this season. just had to share another one.
9bb94b5469da11e38aa9121e4b934cb1_8

ah! this is at the Natural History Museum – it’s called Heroic Figure – a museum is always a lovely place to visit right before everyone heads inside their houses to pop on a christmas sweater and peel the carrots, non? edifying. indeed. 47edbe0069ea11e3abd812de0c587746_8

here we go – out of order – the Christmas Song Experience in downtown los angeles. 50a889c86ace11e3a27f0e1c4bab99dd_8

and so many CHANDELIERS are in Town this season!63add1366b7811e3ac8712ae8506c2d1_8

yesterday evening we had another cinematic christmas reverie – with Beguiling Hollywood and the Mister (yup, in RL – we had a blog outing and it was delicious and there was cashmere worn against the slightly surprising low temperature of Hollywood Boulevard by night).

what did we see?

why – Mr. Grant!

you know who used to go to Movies at the Egyptian, don’t you?

yes. Ms. Pickford *shivers*

71ba5e4e6b4a11e3afc71228f51002cc_8

so this was Yesterday *thinks* – yes, yesterday – and we were Most amused to find a roaring fire at Shutters On The Beach (it really is on the Beach and there are indeed Lots of Shutters, all painted white like a Ralph Lauren photo shoot from 1987.)

810a9d826aaa11e3b7b612382b3169b2_8

this is another christmas display – complete with fake snow on-the-hour (how nice of it to be Timed – and not cold at all) – at The Grove – where we saw another Christmas movie with our friend the Duke that was very funny and sometimes so Naughty (in a funny way not a dodgy movie in the back alley of Soho, London shops sort of a manner we hasten to add) that we had to giggle and stifle a *gasp*. 98821b0e6a8011e3a9d60e8644d622dc_8

now in between all this festive cultural activity we had had to Stop and rest a little while to enjoy european magazines and a pot-of-tea (no change there then – a year-round enjoyment, that one). d4d1e2d26a6d11e390ca0e8c429a00d0_8

out of order in the slideshow again (yes, we do know how to “re-Org” but we just don’t have Time today – forgive?) – this is the view from Christopher Isherwood’s house – yes – i n s p i r i n g indeed for him and mr. Bachardy who still lives there (we did Not disturb him, we have exquisite manners and just wait for an invitation for an iced coffee and a tour of the studio someday). daf465da6b7c11e3a7201273a5a26904_8

ah. this is where we saw Cary Grant (on screen) last night with Beguiling Hollywood and the Misterdd59c2146aca11e3a5570e29e0bdbc01_8

and even more chandeliers in a shop front on Melrose as we walked home from the Grove (because don’t even THINK of parking during the christmas season and a 40 minute walk there and slightly faster back because we didn’t dawdle looking at people’s decorations in their front lawn plots because it was much colder on the return trip is lovely)f26f30006ad211e3a84012a4aeb4a794_8

and so to rest once more.

what’s that?

why yes, that IS an El Royale mug – we received a gift from our friend the Duke as he is a Resident there now – isn’t that delicious?

so there you go – a rousing start with Darlene Love, followed by Messrs. Grant (Cary and Hugh, different films) and Mr. Tyler Perry (a very different cultural experience) movies  – we also forgot to mention that, the other evening, the night before we got stopped at Border Control *shivers*, we went to see Love Actually with miss whistle and her extended friends-and-family and there was quite a bit of passing-the-kleenex-around-to-mop-up-happy-tears.

after all that upbeat christmas fare, we really must watch a dark and brooding French film – which we Last talked about *gasps* TWO YEARS AGO – just after – well – you-know-what happened.

there’s nothing like foreign families engaged in bitter drama to really bring home the joy of celebrating in whatever-way-or-Not-one-chooses.

just saying.

*winningsmiletocamera3*

and fade to (not quite) black.

*peeksopenbehindcurtain*

what have YOU seen during this build-up-to-christmas?

do. tell.

and pictures of trees are always welcome.

we get sort of a contact high, it’s rather delicious.

a sunday morning in los angeles

darlings

this is a deeply *strange* time of year.

everyone is waiting breathlessly for the end of 2013.

winding down.

finishing up work. getting ready-to-fly (if that’s what they need to do).

no one is sure whether it’s still Polite to email about work issues or whether we’d be interrupting.

so we don’t.

we finish what’s on the schedule.

and then – *looksaround* – wait for 2014.

but it’s still *counts* quite a few days away……

so – we’ll take Pictures and listen to Music and Watch foreign Films and Read and take long walks and drives and enjoy it.

gosh.

how about you?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

we adore the foreign films of Christophe Honore. so terribly delicious french.

and there you go.

music and movies and books and loveliness-with-white-roses for a sunday morning in los angeles.

*looksaround*

y-es.

this is almost exactly how we thought it would turn out.

which is delicious.

as for the rest?

well.

that will reveal itself in time.

*nervouslooktocamera*

we. hope.

(almost) 5 hours on-the-road.

gosh

darlings

that was an Exceedingly Long Drive back (traffic, snafus, engine lights going on – oops – all ok now, more traffic, other people in accidents – sad moment – and more Traffic).

(almost) 5 hours.

*sighs*

but SUCH a lovely business trip that turned into an all-round nice experience on both ends with some sight-seeing and movie reference-making.

picture roll please

(we were pretending we were doing a slide show then – like some indomitable matron after she has returned from INDIA at the local library’s evening gala).

1df7676e5df011e394a00ec3b6531b36_8

this is where the business meetings took place – rather brave new world. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

and here’s sight-seeing beforehand….OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

yes! that is the Maritime Museum – clever you for spotting that. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

now this picture is for Gallivanta – it’s the Star Of India – the vessel on which people emigrated from England to New Zealand from 1863 onwards.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

and this is dawn over Coronado Island this morning. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Coronado is a very special and magical place. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

it’s where a certain young newspaper journalist turned author wrote about OzOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

and these lovely brochures from the past were in the small museum on Orange Avenue (which is the main or high street) and the hotel itself is just down the way.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

right on the beach itself.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

with a very feeling-glow-y-about-the-Future sort of a sky and view of the Pacific Ocean as you can see. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

yes. it *does* look familiar doesn’t it?

that’s because a GLORIOUS film was shot here.

Some-Like-it-Hot-marilyn-monroe-16355443-1416-2005 sight-lines-cleared-some-like-it-hot

just perfection.

sadly the hotel itself is rather ordinary these days.

we were hoping to write about it – but it was full of people with lanyards and name badges rushing off to seminars about graduate learning techniques and so on.

not a movie star in sight.

or a fashion photographer.

wait.

talking about fashion (because, well, we were)….

due to the magical nature of scheduled digital-publishing dates, our piece on the Beverly Center went live while we were out of Town

and in even more delicious news from Abroad – guess who is on newsstands in AUSTRALIA on Monday?

well.

not literally.

the article that we wrote for an English publication was “picked up for syndication” (such a delicious phrase) and sent to Australia where it was accompanied with a DEEPLY glamorous shot from Monsieur. P. Demarchelier.

Screen Shot 2013-12-06 at 10.55.49 PM

easier to see in Portable Document Format here: Harper’s Bazaar Australia January 2014

*blush*

Harper’s Bazaar and Australia.

it’s just getting all Rather Exciting, darlings.

gulp.

did you see what the article has been Re-Named Down Under?

Making A U-Turn

yes.

we did.

and we did a few today on the drive back from San Diego too.

real ones.

not just metaphorical ones.

although those are deeply important.

and a bit scary, to be honest.

but there you go.

we did one.

off to Manhattan to do a hopefully passable impression of Hugh Grant.

darlings

very exciting! who-we-are-in-RL has been Packed and Ready for the past 12 hours awaiting the Red Eye flight Tonight across the entire USA continent to the Other Side and the other Coast, in fact – for a WHIRLWIND business trip as a member of the global press corps.

62dc2b5632dc11e3904822000a1fc3ed_7*veryhappysigh*

which means – in effect – although we cannot (yet) tell you the Movie she’s seeing or the Movie Stars and Hollywood Director she is interviewing – she will, in fact, be doing a passable impression of Hugh Grant.

Screen Shot 2013-10-12 at 4.11.15 PM

do you recall this scene in Notting Hill? not sure if you can see this transmission in your territory:

Screen Shot 2013-10-12 at 4.11.03 PM

It’s all Tremendously Exciting – although we won’t be “crushing” on the Star/Director/CombinationOfBoth – as splendid as they both are – unlike Mr. Hugh Grant did with the lovely Ms. Julia Roberts (and who can blame him?)

so – that’s Ahead – for the next two days.

what else?

So Many Things (thank you for asking – *winninglooktocamera* – love)/.
2d18e298337c11e3b9ec22000a9e28d2_8

let’s see – there was a cup of coffee with someone glamorous (you can tell by the Aviator shades and yes, we were discussing The Book)

f88f0e18337511e3952e22000a9f3cf3_85c225f16336211e3b03722000a1fc75a_8

the day started early with a drive and a delightful conversation with George but he had to go off and do things with his Family so we went alone to Chateau Marmont (see how you *almost* felt sad for us and then sat back in your comfy chair to say “oh well, Chateau Marmont, and very nice that is too!” – and you’re right. It. Is).

and we read a selection of the International press while eating eggs. always a winning combination.

d8a284b2336211e3942122000aaa0535_8

and the Print Edition (Traditional Version) arrived in the Post of RED so we got to see who-we-are-in-RL on the Contributors Page (first time EVER!)
833218e432c211e3b6c722000a9d0edd_7

and she also was asked to write a small “blog post” to promote The Book (and the article in this month’s Red)

RedBlogsophs

then after All That we had to come home and do the List of Things we Must Not forget (passport etc – even though it’s Domestic Travel and one CAN use a driving license to get to NYC, as an immigrant, one is always Advised to bring a passport) db446d90338311e39dfb22000a9e5ac6_8

we felt Rather exhausted at the thought of a car arriving to take us to the airport for 11PM (we so rarely see 11PM, darlings) so we rested well for a few moments and read a little more of the International Press (because that’s what members of the Global Press Corps do of a weekend, naturally).

we *almost* forgot to share this week’s column with you – it’s been Very busy over here doing research for the Hugh Grant impression (and he didn’t have to read a ton of books on artificial intelligence and neuroscience and Robots and the meaning of Life/Love and neural networks either – he just faked it with a vintage copy of Horse and Hound).
Screen Shot 2013-10-12 at 4.18.08 PM

of course Mr. Hugh John Mungo Grant is an ACTOR and we are – well – we are – hmmmm – not Entirely sure what we are.

but it’s awfully delicious finding out.

see you on the Other Coast.

we’re staying at one of Mr. Trump’s hotels.

Hopefully in a Room with a View – we adore those.

Don’t you?

sunsets, barry lyndon and listening to radio new zealand.

darlings

thanks to Gallivanta, we’ve been Transported to New Zealand (which is so far away it feels magical and it’s clear that Mr. Peter Jackson thinks so too – and Ms. Jane Campion, of course) and listening to the most popular Radio Programmes from Radio New Zealand and we particularly loved This One which is for the “short wave listener enthusiast” which we didn’t Actually know we Were until transfixed to the digital device here in Los Angeles and listening to transmission Expert Kevin Hands twiddle the knobs in the Southern Hemisphere and pick up faint crackly and somewhat mid-wartime-much-needed-bulletin-type-feel radio waves from inside ASIA and beyond.

glorious.

what else?

let’s see.

and another one. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

and we climbed over a fence – naughty – to get this shot (can you see the twinkle lights on the beach? #divine!)OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

we went to see Barry Lyndon last night (the film, not a person called Barry Lyndon) and it was glorious – alas – very, very long – and so we snuck out at the Intermission but we know how it ends anyway……can’t stay out too late…..you know how it is.

as we don’t have Time to write a review we looked for someone else’s opinion and found this – which we really enjoyed and hope you do too.

you could have guessed we adored the movie from the decor alone – the chandeliers, the candelabra, the gowns, the wigs, the flirting….

*coughs*

back to today: OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

can you see the lovely light on the workbench in the bottom window?

we just noticed it as we passed by and had to take a photograph instantly. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAand here’s how we’ve spent much of Sunday………addressing Cards To Editors of Magazines, people-who-own-gorgeous-shops-that-sell-books and People We Admire (yes, all about the book – *innerSqueal*)

we also sent one to William because he likes Post almost as much as we do.

would you like one? email us with your snail mail address: teamgloria(at)teamgloria.com.

@BklynQly publishes our picture of the chandelier tree #weadoreachandelier

darlings

firstly those lovely post-grads in Capote-esque scarves have published one of our photographs.

Screen Shot 2013-07-22 at 1.47.47 PMdo you remember they sent us a lovely note Requesting Permission?

because the Author of the story – A. Shields – had seen our photograph of the Chandelier Tree (#weadoreachandelier as you know, love)

it’s a gripping story.

and weirdly one of the lead characters is called……..well……read on

My sister said once that knowing who we’re capable of betraying—and who we’re not capable of betraying—revealed the aim of our purest desire. Sophia entered this world equipped with a finely tuned lie detector, and she believed that too much pretense was as deadly to that desire as a clear, poisonous gas was to our lives. When we were children, she was the only person I knew who was entirely alive. Because of her, I was too, when I was a boy.

yes, curious.

who-we-are-in-RL did not inspire this tale, as far as we know.

although we cannot find anything on A. Shields in the contributors’ page so perhaps tis a pseudonym (how exciting).

and In Other News as they used to say on the British Broadcasting Corporation:

what have we been up to?

well – there has been some Deeply Interesting Work which who-we-are-in-RL said we’re Not allowed to Talk About
