the international jet set

as teamgloria sits here with a delicious americano (the coffee, not someone new from new york that we found wandering italy ;) we check email (on the phone – remember how not so long ago that was a super sci-fi proposition, darlings?)……

a most elegant friend sends a photograph of the beach at santa monica, ca (he was running there this morning – yes, our friends are not only deeply glamorous but terribly fit…..) and we are transported momentarily to sand in the toes and the Hollywood star ordering a skinny decaf at Peets in front of us memories.

we are so jet set it hurts.

(thank you for asking – see previous post – yes, we finally broke through the sleep barrier at 3AM after wearing ourselves out packing – we leave today for Paris. I know – such a gorgeous life, despite having three tumors and a surgery date of sept 9th looming on the horizon)

reporting in from france this evening……….until then, have a beautiful day, as the americans say.

or Ciao, as they say here, in italy (while checking you out massively ;)

what not to say #2.

team gloria woke up to the sound of trains and just KNEW they were italian. and they were. but so horribly close to the hotel ;-)

after a deliciously simple breakfast and a cursory reading of the WSJ european edition (hmmm, the world of finance and big business seems to be heading for the hills, no?) we took a walk and found a beautiful church, a small row of shops – a cafe, a newsagent and a fruit stand – yes, we’re going to be there in a few moments enjoying some downtime before an afternoon and evening of (day job) work.

btw, what NOT to say #2: the amount of people who’ve emailed team gloria and said:

“they don’t think it’s serious if the surgery isn’t until september 9th”

have caused us to wrinkle up our noses in pain and shudder silently at the unthinking hurt they cause.

so we respond:

it was the first available surgery date.

and try to move on with our day in milano, darlings.

photographs later, we promise.
