happy birthday to who-we-are-in-RL!

gosh.

you’ll never guess who just became “une femme d’un certain age”..

*winkstocamera3*

well.

*thinks*

maybe you would because, well, you’re Here.

45FORTY-FIVE?!

wowzer.

how did That happen?

*giggles*

thank goodness for Ponds Cold Cream and that nice soft pink tin of moisture morning cream from Boots The Chemist.

and a delicious wicked card from Mr. William Godwin featuring the cast of The Good Life from the BBC 1970s-era programme.

williambirthdaycardand some gorgeous blooms that we met yesterday while driving around in an urban farm flower grower’s van talking about Eastbourne (true story – we both went to school in the same town in England and here we are – the grower and who-we-are-in-RL – both in Los Angeles – isn’t the world completely magical?)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAnow there are many Deeply interesting people born on March 9th.

we wrote about some of them Last Year

while in 2012 who-we-are-in-RL was in PARIS, on very important Business.

what about March 2011?

you know we’re not Entirely sure what we were doing then.

it was (just) before we started to write here, as teamgloria.

which is when it all began…….

to be correct, for who-we-are-in-RL, it all began in 1969.

and That was a fine year for many others who also now live here (very near) to the Hollywood Studios to pack their celestial accoutrements, chose a set of parents (or more than one set, that happens too), a place to Start (and not, for us, to stay), and set out on the journey to becoming who-They-are this time around (doesn’t everyone think like this? it’s Delicious).

glorious.

we’ll say it again: GLORIAous.

so she’s getting ready as we’re taking her for Brunch and then there’ll be a small supper with friends later and perhaps a walk and generally a lot of lying around feeling glorious and Of A Certain Age.

because tomorrow in our role as a Foreign Correspondent we shall be Reporting at the Los Angeles Fashion Week so who-we-are-in-RL needs her beauty sleep for that.

and the dark glasses and probably the pearls too.

*chuckling*

hello tuesday.

darlings

*looks_around*

gosh.

another Tuesday?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

so soon?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAwell.

what shall we talk about?

do you have tea?

we have tea.

oh good, you’re sorted.

then we’ll begin.

did you remember it was Mozart’s birthday yesterday?

we celebrated by listening to much of his Greatest Hits and felt Rather Rousing while conducting an imaginary string quartet while driving down sunset boulevard….

—-en route to another person beginning with M’s birthday!

and what else shall we tell you about?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

while waiting (checks/cheques, Commissions, code to be examined on Current “gigs” and consultancy proposals to be consulted About before hired On and probably other things beginning with C but that’s quite Enough to be going on with) we’ve been enjoying a perusal down the Beverly Hills Library Section where the Philosophy books live.

This One particularly caught our eye (bet you spotted that one too) – and it’s jolly good.

more on Mr. J. Baggott’s text when we’ve finished it.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

well! we were Very Pleased to receive a Piece of Post from the sprite!

whom – you may well recall – because it was a jolly good drawing – we spent a (probably rather cold, it being on the Other coast at that time) splendid afternoon with Two Years Ago, almost to the day (that day being January 29th 2012 you see).

let’s all wish the sprite the customary theatrical cry of “break a leg” for her performance in Manhattan (or was it in an Outer Borough/off Broadway?)

in other news, we took a small break in the proceedings today and met up with our old friend Amy (she’s not at all old, but we first met her over a decade ago now) and her small son, young Master. J. as he shall be known here.

who has a most excellent collection of spiderman miniature cars.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

such fun.

highly recommended.

letters from the East Coast and some pretend race track adventures with miniature cars.

and now we return to normal transmission – and Back to Work.

thank you so much for popping by!

teatime candles and roses and visits and only half-way through a delicious birthday

darlings

just popped home with an Armful of Flowers!

dashing out again Any Moment but had to just stop and admire and *sigh* and re-arrange flowers and light the perfect gardenia candle after dropping by to see the deliciously-elegant Timothy Sullivan and his delightful husband over at Timothy Jay Candles – we just went in for a hug and a votive – and emerged almost Bridal (see pictures for evidence), darlings.

we already felt Quite Heady after meeting-up-with-friends-at-noon on the Sunset Strip (quelle glam yet noticeably a high quotient of tattoos, always) and then settling into a low sofa, grabbing a throw pillow and lying back elegantly at The Chateau for a pot of tea (and a sinfully gorgeous chocolate and coconut cake). viewer-1

to make it Even more *gasp* worthy – we just happened to look up from the Calendar section of the Los Angeles Times and guess who was there, on the sofa opposite?

we Knew we had to be Very Sophisticated about seeing a star there (there are so many but many of them are Young and probably known for a either a Pop Band or a Television Programme which means we wouldn’t recognize them – unless it’s a Danish television programme or a Korean K-Pop band – then we’d do a tiny Squeal).

so we just looked up, widened our eyes ever-so-slightly and did a quick bow of respect. viewershe gave us a chillingly fabulous look which we haven’t seen since we last didn’t hand in our French homework on time.

darlings – it’s only 4.54PM (16:54 for our Europeans friends) and we have to get ready as we’re seeing an Independent movie downtown and we were promised a Milkshake at a classic diner too.

this birthday for who-we-are-in-real-life has been Tremendous.

well, Bonne Anniversaire, to who we are In Real Life.

gosh.

is it that time of Year already?

March 9th (we won’t make her blush by saying the year) is the day that who-we-are-in-real-life celebrates her you know – Birthday.

of course it’s not Our Birthday (because we celebrate April 9th which is when we were allowed to start writing, publicly, here, on teamgloria.com) but we Do Indulge her because she gets Rather Excited about today on account of increasing years to become what’s she’s always wanted to be since the age of 9:

“femme d’un certain age”

she’s not There quite yet (mainly because Catherine Deneuve is the gold standard in this respect and she keeps increasing the upper limit, refusing Point Blank, to be anything Other than Still Glamorous and feisty and eyebrow-raising-irony French).

while she got all excited and sipped coffee and responded to lovely (how modern) text messages next door, we did Some Research.

it appears that there are Other people born on March 9th too!

and they all have something of a deeply creative and big eyed fringed with dark lashes (mascara or not in the case of John Cale) Appeal, it seems.

Kim Tae-yeon from Korea #weadorethewondergirls – watch this!
url-2

and then from La belle France – Juliette Binoche – and there are many beautiful heart-rending movies made by La Binoche but we love Jet Lag (Décalage horaire) most of all. url-3

John Cale was also born today (in a Welsh mining town – such a long way from there to Here.)

url

and then, of course, of course, there’s VITA.

so there you go.

a Deeply Creative Bunch born today.  viewer-1

William sent a Marvel(l)ous Card. viewerwe’re going to lounge here just for a while – it’s only 0746AM in Los Angeles, darlings – we shall amuse ourselves with the Letters of Truman Capote, slip into the dark embrace of caffeine and perhaps nibble on (just) half a grapefruit.

there are plans ahead for the day – we’ll tag along and take photographs just to keep her amused and indulged.

although we’d Like to Point Out that Last Year we were in PARIS.

*sighs*

as we recall – we ordered Room Service (yes, we were at Le Bristol – with the Day Job and being all secretive and Still Anonymous) and just “happened” to confess it was our “anniversaire”……..the door was discretely tapped on again a few moments later and VOILA! Un Gateau!

20120309-034311

but naturally we’re Tickled Pink that we’re in Tinseltown.

plus half a grapefruit for breakfast rather than Un Gateau is probably more suitable for (almost) un femme d’un certain age.

but there will be Milkshakes later.

we’ve been Promised.

*smiling*

as who we are in RL is Increasing in age, as teamgloria, n’est ce pas, we’re Perpetually 28, naturellement, so we can afford to be Gracious ;-)
