darlings
a lovely, lovely, time in cape town – the work bit is (almost) over so we’ve let who-we-are-in-RL have a sleep because she did Very Well giving speeches, judging (in a good way) and everything these past few days….(and the Ladies Brunch was very moving, so glad we were asked to participate).
so we took the grown-up camera and headed out into Cape Town (which is an Extremely Chilled of a Place to be) and enjoyed the scent of orange blossom, jasmine and some identified smokey smell which could well be the braai (bar-b-que, darlings).
this is where we’re staying (right? DIVINE!).
there’s nothing like a Veranda to feel drifty and pretty over breakfast coffee occasions.
now this is Very Important – it’s the Bookery and it does really good things here in South Africa and yes, we stopped by and had a chat and a think about how to write about them perhaps for a publication…. *putsthinkingfaceon*
because books are Crucial to small (and bigger) people.
the Book Lounge is nearby and we bought a slim volume of fiction (more on that later) and enjoyed a small conversation with the excellent sales staff.
this is the outside of the Book Lounge.
and these are photographs we took this morning before it got hot (because, of course, this is Summer below the Equator – isn’t that glorious?)
and now we rest a little while before getting ready for the Bookmarks party which we’ve heard is Deeply glamorous (a tiny bit debauched but we’ll have escaped in an Uber long before t h a t, love ;-)
More than 600 entries, and so many finalists. *tg*! who you are in RL will need a lot of sleep after such a busy event. Isn’t it lovely that it went so well?
we are Tremendously Pleased that all seemed to be happy with the awards and everything.
I didn’t get to a winners’ link….was there one?
LOVE that you are now a BIG STAR in the Southern Hemisphere! Now, hurry home. XXXXX
it’s going to take a while…..we’re stopping off with William in Whitstable first.
amazing pics! but the presentation looks like it was so good – would you possibly have a youtube link if there is one? no rush maybe when you get back home you can send us a link! would love a vlog post hehe
Sadly no video….. but bless you for your kindness in asking!
Some of this looks like ny with bouganvillea!
it’s too true!
isn’t it weird how a lot of the world looks Awfully Similar?
escape in an uber. ha! isn’t it funny how get the same company drive us around, you in south africa, me in germany?
(I have an eye for the most unimportant details lately, please bear with me)
an Uber is not an insignificant detail At All!
especially when one is waiting in the dark on a South African street.
gosh. I know of photo teams who only go out with bodyguards. hope you got home safe!!!
we decided that as we were in the doctor Martens we would take a chance and be in the streets after dark because we remember the Take Back The Night marches and felt Strongly about women not being confined to the indoors.
how very brave and smart of you!
