7 pieces of random-ness for a sunday inspired by @Madame_de_Pique

darlings

the most lovely Madame de Pique has graciously bestowed on us a nomination for an award, which is Most delicious, *humblecurtsey*.

Versatile Blogger Award

however, we are going to break the rules (and not make any New nominations ourselves) because we have engaged, quite recently, in a long (and some might say exhausting) round of a similar experience of nominating and reading and commenting and being re-nominated and we just can’t face putting people through that again…..

so just because it’s Sunday and we’re feeling a tiny bit jet-lagged but generous – do check out Madame de Pique’s nominations so we can expand our family of aesthetes around the world a little more each day.

Nominations from Madame de Pique

(in a perfectly random manner)

  1. Tiaras and Trianon
  2. the Pragmatic Costumer
  3. Empress Chronicles
  4. Life Takes Lemons
  5.  Saints, Sisters and Sluts
  6. teamgloria (note to self, you’re already here, darlings)
  7.  Splatter
  8. Sifting the Past
  9.  Good Gentlewomen
  10.  Versailles Gossip
  11. Cafe Royal
  12. Education of Madame X
  13. Les Favorites Royale
  14. Edwardian Promenade
  15. WTF Art History

and now our 7 random facts:

  1. a ripe peach with feta cheese (small cubes please) is our preferred breakfast fare
  2. this is our favo(u)rite photograph (taken by someone else) of all time (we have a large copy of it in our boudoir)
  3. celestial blue and slipper satin pink are the most soothing shades and we have accents of both all over our house
  4. we don’t like distractions so we don’t have skype, cable (television) or a facebook account
  5. we long to have a house in new orleans and work with Patrick Dunne on its decoration
  6. we wear three fragrances, depending on mood, time of day or activity ahead: Vivienne Westwood Boudoir, Chanel No. 5 and Chloe by Chloe (originally launched by Karl – may we call him Karl? in 1975 – not easy to find as the market has all the updated ones, not nearly as evocative of estoril, portugal circa 1984, but we just visited a classic fragrance seller in manhattan and found a single bottle which we brought home)
  7. we are slightly scared by writing because it seems to come from somewhere else and is a most insistent energy when it wants to be expressed, no matter where or what we are doing at that moment

and now here are a few photographs from our sunday-back-in-the-city-of-angels (basking on the sofa in sunlight, writing in bed, heading to the farmer’s market any moment – #divine – as one Does in this beauteous Land.)

how’s your sunday so far, love?

and merci to Madame de Pique for inspiring this post.

About teamgloria

I used to make my living from writing. And then it all stopped and so I went and did something else, part of which entailed a whole new look from Brooks Brothers (it wasn’t really me, but it was necessary). But a decade later I started to write again (during nights and weekends and frustrated lunch-times and long haul business travel) and one of the things I wrote (or came to me – as I do believe in the whole Muse concept) was a character called Gloria. Gloria was a trainee angel and sat “up there” waiting for her first assignment. To occupy the hours she should have been studying humans and their foibles, she spent her time enjoying the new celestial movies-on-demand channel and became obsessed by Doris Day. So you can imagine the drama that unfolded when she came to Earth. Quite a shock to the system. But Gloria was determined to see Manhattan through the eyes of a vintage Doris Day movie and something magical started to happen – to me too. Because I started to do the same thing and life became easier (and then I got Tobias the tumor which changed the trajectory, for now). There are a lot of glorious people, places & things that help me get through my day – they make my life great – and so I call them “team gloria” (although they don’t usually know that). So I thought I’d start documenting them, and looking out for new people, places & things on a daily basis, and sharing them with you (whomever you are – do say hello. Oh, and tell me who your team gloria is :-)

  1. I discovered your blog on a Monday – can I still join in?

  2. Places to visit… j’adore ça ! Mais demain. Pour mieux apprécier. (WTF Art History? The name alone is too divine…)

  3. Looks from afar, with deep green envy, at the thought of a trip to the farmer’s market!

  4. Avec plaisir to a most deserving and glorious nominee! :) (my sunday has been a research day in most regards… reading and musing and making some sketches for a change)

and there is always more factoids about you that make me smile!
and #7 is just magic. you are a channel to a higher spirit. writing is your destiny. that is so strong and romantic!
    (and this photograph is BEAUTIFUL!!)
    xx j.

  6. Susan Ozmore says:

This is a lovely place to visit on a Sunday afternoon. I’ve been poking around looking for more marvelous women to highlight on my FB page for the blog. I should be writing for the blog, or reading my bookclub book, but it’s about a man *gasp*. Good book and subject, but doesn’t help with the blog either. Oh well, it’s Sunday and thanks to your visit, I’ve found your blog. Definitely a good thing. Thank you :-)

  7. Oh good. New people to discover, merci. My Sunday has been rainy and cold which has not been quite so fun when walking the puppers. Plus my honey went off on an adventure without me as I am staying behind to take care of them. So I am rather pouty. But on the other hand, I will feel guilt-free in watching whatever girly girl movie I would like for the next few evenings. Not bad, eh?

do say something - do :-)
